OLD MISSION White Oak (photo is stained)
COLOR: Our Old Mission white oak roots mingle with those left in the ground from the American Chestnut trees destroyed in a blight at the turn of the last century. This results in a unique bronzed patina. Stains and finishes are enhanced, particularly as the floor ages.
GRAIN: Rift and quartersawn, tight and dense with abundant character, with characteristic flake and tiger ray patterns.
VARIATION: Considerable variation between boards in color and texture.
DURABILITY: Quite durable compared to most softwoods, and more durable than red oak. Janka rating = 1360. Dimensional change coefficient = .00365
